More Info About My Practice

Choosing a therapist can be a confusing, daunting process. I offer a free 30-minute consultation, either over the phone or in person, to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you. My full fee is $100 per 50-minute session. I offer a limited number of sliding-scale slots in my practice for clients who are unable to pay my full fee. Please let me know if this fits your situation. Currently, I do not accept insurance, but I am happy to provide you with any documentation needed so that you can request reimbursement from your insurance for my services as an out-of-network provider.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

As a therapist, I have the honor of accompanying my clients during some of the most vital moments of their lives - the moments that challenge them and open up new possibilities at the same time. This is truly a privilege. I love being a therapist because of the opportunity it gives me to connect authentically with another person and witness incredible internal and external changes.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to experience something firsthand in order to help someone else through a similar event. Sometimes, personal experience can get in the way of an effective therapeutic partnership because the therapist can get too caught up in her own experience and cannot see her client clearly anymore. It is more important that therapists make sense of their own experiences and do personal healing work to enable them to be effective helpers. We all have healing and growing to do!

Doing my own personal healing work has increased my capacity to be compassionate with myself and others, how to be resilient in the face of difficulty, and how to stay connected to the ever-present joy in life. It has also taught me that it is not a question of whether or why we experience difficulty in life, but how we live through our challenges that defines us and determines our ability to tap into happiness and contentment.
