My Approach to Helping

Advanced Health Care is HERE To HELP during COVID-19. Now more than ever, life can be stressful, confusing, and painful at times. The purpose of our work together is to help you live a healthier, happier, and more meaningful life. We will work together to process what is holding you back, and to find ways to help you move forward. I am not here to tell you what to do or how to live your life, but to assist you in creating the life that you desire - in a way that works for you.

You may be asking yourself, is this the right time to start therapy? Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Do you feel like you are not on the right path?
- Have you been chronically unhappy or made poor decisions?
- Do you have a good life but find yourself feeling off or unsatisfied?
- Are there situational problems in your life that you need guidance for?
- Do you feel that your issues have been following you for years?
- Do your problems seem to not have any solutions?
- Are you confused as to what is even wrong?

The good news is this: Psychotherapy can help.

I treat a wide-range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, coping with illness, trauma, grief, self-esteem, women's issues, & stress. I also conduct psychological evaluations, including: Workers' Compensation evaluation and treatment, Agreed Medical Evaluations, Qualified Medical Evaluations, Personal Injury Claims, Fitness For Duty Evaluations, and Independent Medical Evaluations. I look forward to helping you.

More Info About My Practice

Our practice is centrally located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. We provide a comfortable and private atmosphere to help foster your healing. We accept many types of insurance, and we have a billing specialist in our office to assist you in understanding your coverage, co-pays, and other financial needs. We also provide a superbill bill for out of network services as a courtesy to you if we do not take your insurance, that way you can still be reimbursed by your insurance company. We accept all forms of payment, and we also have a few sliding scale slots reserved for treatment with our psychological assistants.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Women's Telehealth Support Group - Monday Evenings

Women play a special role in our treatment at Advanced Health Care. During this time of uncertainty, we know that support and connection is needed now more than ever. Please join Dr. Sarah Ray in an online teletherapy support group for women. This group will be limited to 6 women, to provide ample opportunity for support, resources, and connection for each member. Topics will depend on the need of each group, but will focus on: Anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, work-life balance, self-esteem, depression, stress, meeting personal goals, women's health, and overall quality of life.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

There is no greater honor than having the privilege of being the person who is allowed to help someone when they are hurting. Every human goes through times of pain, grief, confusion, anger, shame, or feeling overwhelmed by the state of their life. Even though this is completely normal, many new clients feel uncertain or hesitant about sharing their feelings or actions, and I take great pleasure in being the person who can help them open up and feel comfortable processing the feelings or events that they are faced with. With each client, it is my job to figure out how to foster a sense of safety for that individual person, and provide a judgement-free, caring, and accepting environment, which is one of the necessary elements of healing. There is no greater privilege than helping a person improve their life, and I appreciate the opportunity to help you.

My Role as a Therapist

It is my personal belief that many therapists take a very passive role in working with their clients, whereas I strive to really connect with you and help you discover the things that need to change for you to have a better life - and then we work together to actually implement those changes. To do this, I provide a safe atmosphere to help foster self-understanding, to get you through difficult times, and to help you meet your personal goals. I combine support, insight, and direction to help you have the skills to better manage your life, and in the process, obtain greater peace and joy. I have had many clients see results in a short period of time using a brief treatment plan, whereas other clients have stayed on for longer periods to continue their personal growth. Some people feel that they have had problems throughout their entire life, whereas others feel confused as to why their problems seem to be peaking at the present time. Whatever your situation my be, my goal is to help you have greater quality of life and to fulfill your personal goals in a way that makes sense for you.
