Hi I'm Sara!

I became a therapist because I believe in the power that human connection to heal emotional pain. I have a genuine interest in working collaboratively with people to find ways to feel more empowered. My approach is genuine, compassionate, and focused on you. I work with individuals, adolescents and families to restore and rebuild their lives. My passion is helping others discover, connect with, and make sense of their most authentic selves in the therapeutic process.

I have previous experience working at a residential treatment center in Austin for severely abused and neglected adolescents where I became passionate about working with people who are overcoming major life obstacles or transitions. My special interest in working with clients revolves around the problems that arise from coming out, sex and gender identification, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addiction, ADHD, and traumatic events. Many of my clients come to me seeking to better understand how their attachment patterns have affected their current relationships or are concerned about being a "people pleaser" in their current relationship.

I am trained in EMDR, TF-CBT and have additional training in TBRI which are all trauma based modalities in therapy. I also have worked a lot with clients on sexual and gender identity concerns including building confidence in a same-sex, heterosexual, bisexual or polyamory relationships, sexual trauma, or sexual issues around a new partner. You might also hear me ask you about how you might be physically processing therapy or life. Part of my training includes sensory integration of traumatic events. Even though therapy is typically focused on emotional healing, I also like to help challenge clients to become more mindfully aware and curious about the connection their emotional and physical selves in order to fully heal and grow.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am skilled with helping clients recognize and make sense of repeating patterns that may be causing distress in their lives. We all live with these behavioral patterns that we have picked up either through past relationships, attachment concerns with parents or a form of trauma. I offer guidance, support and a caring, nurturing, safe space for my clients to examine these issues more closely in order to feel more empowered in their lives.
