My job is to help parents understand and respond to some of the most common and typical challenges that arise in early childhood: aggression, defiance, inconsolable crying, children who are slow-to-warm-up, sleep challenges. With young children ages 0-5, I offer dyadic therapy sessions to meet the needs of each family and assist in implementing the coping skills and strategies practiced in session at home. I offer individual therapy for children older than 6 years, but I will continue to communicate with parents regularly in order to support your family in lasting success.

My Therapy Focus

Creating art is a way for children to communicate their inner emotions, thoughts and understandings of the world. Through art and play children are able to increase their expression, strengthen relationships and understand the areas in life that are challenging. Parents are able to witness their childs' process and explore the inner world that is difficult to reach with words.

From The American Art Therapy Association:

Art therapy is based on the understanding that the creative process of art making is healing and supporting of personal development. Through art making, its observation, and self-reflection under the guidance of an art therapist, one can increase self-awareness, cope with illness, stress, and trauma, enhance cognitive abilities, and enjoy the life-affirming joy of creative endeavors.

Art therapists are professionals trained in both art and therapy and hold a Masters or Ph.D. degree in art therapy or a related field. Art therapists work with children, adolescents, and adults and provide services to individuals, couples, families, groups, and communities.
