My approach to helping others is by allowing you to take the lead. I believe that you have it within yourself to identify the goals you would like to achieve and the intentions you would like to set for yourself. I like to take an empowerment approach, and provide you the chance to create the road map moving forward. When it comes from a place of willingness, and wanting, rather than a "have to," or force, your goals will be a lot easier to achieve. I will help you pull from your inner strength, in order to help you achieve your goals, see progress, and work through any obstacles that come up along the way.

Self-improvement is always possible, and it is never to late to seek out extra support and help. Life is about making progress, not perfection.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to help you pull from your strengths and help you become a better version of yourself. This will be a collaborative process, so that you are engaged in your treatment and goals. My job is to assist you in setting benchmarks to reach your ultimate goal, help you stay accountable, and process any challenges or negative emotions that come up for you in the process. My goal is to stay action oriented so that you see the progress, and have something to work on in every session.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Growing up in a family where seeking therapy was taboo, I had negative thoughts about seeking therapy myself. I found myself in a challenging position working through issues that came up for me. Once I started seeking therapy, and saw the improvements, I knew this was the field for me. My experiences overcoming the obstacles in my life have instilled positivity, and a sense of fight in me, so that I can be your cheerleader. I know what it feels like being in the client role, and very empathetic to what therapy brings up for you, and will be mindful of the challenges.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Therapy is about self improvement. Nobody is perfect, nor will we ever be perfect, however it is these differences that make us who we are and make each individual unique. Learning to love yourself is the main goal. Working through challenges with the help of a therapist does not make you weak, it makes you strong. It means you are able to identify areas where you can grow, and you are open to working through and improving yourself. You will simply be learning more tools to add to your toolbox so that you are better equipped to face obstacles in the future.
