My approach to helping people is to make sure that clients feel safe and comfortable in the therapeutic relationship, and to assess thoroughly that I am professionally equipped to help the client with achieving their desired outcome. I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit and the ability of individuals and couples to heal from even the greatest of traumas. My Christian faith strongly influences my counseling, and my view of each client as having been uniquely created by God, with a special purpose for his/her life.
As an EMDR trained clinician, I am equipped to assist clients in resolving the most difficult of traumas from years past or current situations, that often keep people from experiencing the fullest joy in life. Many times, the persistent anxiety or depression that people suffer from has its origins in "stuck" beliefs about self or emotional/situational triggers linked to difficult experiences in the past. With the proper treatment, clients are enabled to move forward with a feeling of release from prior life events and the resulting freedom to move on in a healthier way. It is my objective that clients leave each session with an insight, tangible tool, or resource that will assist them in achieving their therapeutic goals.
I am trained in the Gottman method of marriage counseling and maintain a strong "pro-marriage" approach to marriage counseling, believing that, most marriages are able to be restored and strengthened.

More Info About My Practice
Clients are assessed and set up with a treatment plan that will encourage the greatest chance for their success in treatment. Because it is important to me that clients achieve their goals and get relief from their distress, I only accept clients when I feel that I have the right clinical skills to really positively impact their situation. Opportunities for homework compliment what is achieved in the session and allows clients to "work" toward their goals between session times. Most often, clients will be seen on a weekly basis at the beginning of treatment.
Insurance and cash pay patients are accepted. I am a provider for many major insurance carriers, including BCBS, Century and First Health Network. For specific insurance coverage, clients should check their individual policy. If a client has insurance for which I am not a network provider, the client will be responsible for payment of the session fee at the time of service. My office will then submit insurance electronically, and clients may be reimbursed for a portion of the fees by their insurance company.
Cash, check, or credit cards are accepted for cash pay clients.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
As an EMDR trained clinician, I am skilled at helping with various trauma and anxiety disorders. This type of treatment is extremely effective in helping clients connect their own internal resources and adaptive reasoning to unwanted states of anxiety. Clients can be assisted to eliminate negative thought patterns and break free from self-destructive habits.
All of us are impacted heavily by early life experiences and relational patterns. I am skilled at assisting clients in understanding how their life today has been shaped by their past and how their tomorrow can look different, based on what we do in the present. Various therapeutic interventions can be used to successfully achieve desired change.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
The opportunity to be able to come along another person in their time of need is a privilege. As a Christian, I feel my role as counselor is not only a career, but a calling. I greatly value my clients and get a great deal of pleasure from seeing them not only heal from their hurts, but to grow into living their lives to the fullest.
As a therapist, I make it my goal to pursue constant growth as a clinician to provide my clients with the best opportunity for healing and enrichment. I attend advanced trainings on a regular basis and have never tired in my desire to learn more that will assist the people who entrust their care to me. I am fascinated by the human mind, the resilience of people and the unique creation of each individual.
