If you are...

experiencing difficulty in your marriage...

struggling to connect with your kids...

feeling disconnected spiritually...

or just trying to figure out your next step in life...

then I hope that we can work together to help you achieve the changes you want to see.

I've had the privilege over the last 18 years of being asked to come alongside of a variety of individuals so that they can be heard, gain insight, and change their lives. This is something that I'm passionate about and love doing.

I believe that for therapy to be effective...

you need more than temporary solutions that don't address the root of the problem. When we can address the root of the problem then you can experience life-long change...

you need a variety of creative approaches so that we can look at issues from different angles...

you to be vulnerable. But my promise is that I will be vulnerable with you as well.

I believe that change starts when you can learn to be present with yourself, fostering a real awareness of how you were shaped (positively/negatively). And as you become more aware, you will find yourself in a real position to make change in your life that is really transforming. I believe that my job in this process is to be vulnerable, show compassion, foster insight, and provide you with the tools that can help you live life courageously.

Being aware of your emotions/feelings and how they can dictate your behavior.
Learning to connect to your truth/identity.
Developing healthy strategies for new coping behaviors (learn to live out of your strengths).
Awareness of how your family of origin and other relationships have shaped who you are today.
Improved communication in your relationships.
Identifying and establishing healthy boundaries.
Reframing and reducing anxiety.
Working through depression, grief and loss.
Discovering and fostering your connection with God.
Guidance in life transitions.
Navigating through identity issues.
And many more.

More Info About My Practice

I am a former college academic recruiter, college pastor, turned marriage and family therapist. I live in McKinney, TX with my wife Heather and our two children. And I love to read, write and run.

I love integrating my education, experience and training in theology and therapy so that I can help you approach life more holistically (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual). My belief is that when you live life accessing these four areas self-care, then any change is possible.

I believe I have an unique private practice and approach to therapy because I don't just do therapy with clients all week. I speak at conferences, teach classes, lead workshops, co-lead marriage intensives for The Hideaway Experience in Amarillo, TX, write articles and books, and am about to launch a new podcast this fall focused on relationships.

I believe these experiences provide me with the education, training and experience that I need to continue growing daily as a therapist so that I can provide you with the best help possible.

I specialize in working with couples (dating, pre-marital, marital), young adults, family and youth (adolescents and parenting), and adolescent boys and men.

When you visit my website you can find out a lot more about who I am, the books I have written (The Anxious Christian and What it Means to be a Man), and discover for yourself if I am the right therapist for you.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to answer what I can. And if you feel like I'm not the right fit for you as a therapist, I would love to help you find the right person.

I look forward to meeting you.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I love working with couples who are dating, engaged or married. I have been working with couples for a long time and I believe that my education, training and experience make me especially adept at helping couples transform their relational issues.
