One of the most important aspects for me, as a professional working with others is "First do no harm." I do my best to treat everyone with dignity, respect and unconditional positive regard. A good therapist does not tell others what they should or should not do, but rather they are there to be the facilitator of the mind's own healing process. As a therapist in the counseling profession I am comfortable with myself, understand my limitations and will not force my morals or values upon you, but rather I will respect yours. Together, with guidance, mutual trust, respect and collaboration you will be empowered to do and be the best person that you want to be in life.

More Info About My Practice

Assisting people in their struggles is a passion of mine. If you have been in therapy for awhile or just feel stuck then Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) may be the solution for you. It works quickly and beautifully and maybe the first time you will be able to feel some inner peace. EMDR works great for everything from the little traumas such as performance anxiety to more complex ones such as PTSD, Rape victims, Molestation, Depression and Eating Disorders to name a few. It is my goal to help you overcome or cope effectively in a healthy manner with issues that have bothered you for a long time or those that have recently come up. In addition, I treat those struggling with other eating issues, Addictions, Relationships and Domestic Violence. Everyone is treated as an individual thus their needs will be different, one which together we will meet.

I also offer Biofeedback and Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES) through The Alpha-Stim 100. It is a useful instrument that treats mood disorders and/or insomnia. The Alpha-Stim 100 produces microcurrents that research shows beneficial smoothing of the brain waves to a normal pattern. CES can also help treat the underlying mood disorders associated with pain. It is simple, safe, effective and induces a pleasant, relaxed feeling of well being. In addition, The Alpha-Stim 100 uses microcurrent electrical therapy (MET) for those suffering from acute, chronic or postoperative pain. The Alpha-Stim 100 works with the body on a large variety of ailments, including difficult-to-treat problems. Alpha-Stim 100 microcurrent technology produces residual and cumulative results.

I accept all insurances including Medicaid. If you do not have insurance then please call me and together we will work out a plan of payment that is acceptable to both of us.

As of May 7, 2014, I will be offering services via video conferencing through Vsee. It is secure and HIPAA compliant.

My Therapy Focus

The focus of my therapy work generally depends on your needs. You may want to just talk about a recent issue in order to find a quick solution thus we would focus on a solution. Or you may have been in and out of therapy all of your life with no satisfaction and want to explore this deeper; in which case I would utilize EMDR, if it is appropriate for you. Maybe your relationships have been rocky over the years with lack of communication and turmoil and you want to do some exploration work in this area to gain understanding which leads to change. In this case a combination of EMDR and education would be appropriate. Therapy work is individualized to your needs which is done in collaboration with you. It is your therapy, you are the one doing all of the work, I am there to facilitate that work. Together we will explore what the alternatives are and what may work best for you. After all you know yourself better than anyone else and you have a lot at stake and your voice counts.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

I believe the most important thing to remember in choosing a therapist is how comfortable do you feel when you are with that person. Is this someone who is accepting and non judgemental? Will the therapist respect your morals and values and not impose his/hers upon you? The relationship between you and your chosen therapist is crucial because it will have a huge impact on the work you do. Without a solid relationship there can be no true healing. Respect and unconditional positive regard for you is benefical in the healing process. Everyone deserves that no matter what. If you don't feel that connection with your therapist then you need to look around until you do. It's like shopping for a doctor or a car there are plenty of them out there but you need to find the one that "fits" you!
