Do you have problems? Good! It means you are alive and growing. In order to survive and thrive in the world, you must continually change, and that is the root of most problems. People with different personalities and life experiences find change difficult in their own unique ways. My approach to counseling combines clinical mental health with human development. I will help you identify, understand, and work through your problems in the context of your life stage. Please visit my website to learn more and to contact me.

More Info About My Practice

I offer each client one free consultation. You are invited to schedule a time to visit my office, meet with me, describe what is going on in your life, and discuss what services might be right for you. There is no obligation and no pressure to sign-up for my services. I just want to give you a chance to meet me in person to help you decide if I am the right choice for you.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy helps to prevent and treat mental health disorders. If you are experiencing symptoms of a disorder, but they are not yet interfering with your functioning (e.g., heightened emotions, mood instability, body tension, etc.), a counselor can help you reduce the symptoms and prevent a disorder from manifesting. Conversely, if you have developed a mental health disorder, then a counselor will diagnose it for you and provide a treatment plan to help you recover to your desired level of functioning.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

As we progress through the different stages of life, we develop aspects of our personality. Like the immune system, the human personality improves as we interact and learn from our environment. There are times, however, when there is friction between personality and environment. If this friction is not addressed, it can lead to stress and make us vulnerable to various heritable mental health concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety, etc.). When these concerns interfere with our everyday functioning, they become disorders.
