Are you looking for help to work through issues with relationships, mood, or anxiety? I'd like to introduce myself and let you know about the kind of help I offer.
I became a counselor so that I might help people work through difficult life problems and find greater peace of mind. Together we will take a look at your present situation. You determine what is really important to you and what you would like to change. We will explore various aspects of yourself--mental, emotional and physical--and will increase your awareness of your strengths and what gets in your way. You may learn skills that help you forge healthier relationships, improve your state of mind, or reduce worry and stress. Greater self-awareness and new skills make it possible for you to enrich your life by improving your ability to trust yourself, deal with disappointment, cope with change, and make your life generally more satisfying.

More Info About My Practice
I am a Counselor Supervisor in Oregon. If you are an intern working toward your license as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), please give me a call for more information.
I was trained in Couple, Marriage and Family therapy as well as therapy with individuals. In addition to my private practice, I work with clients and counseling students at Portland State University's Community Counseling Clinic.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
I believe therapy is a developmental activity. It supports our ability as human beings to learn and grow and change throughout our lives. Could we do this alone? Perhaps we can in some cases. But I have found in my life that sometimes problems are so difficult we need the support of another person who is trained in how to help. An effective counselor doesn't solve our problems, but supports us so we can grow and mature and solve them ourselves. Giving ourselves our own focused attention in this way is a wonderful gift.
Please call if you would like to discuss your needs, get more information about me, or schedule an appointment.
My Therapy Focus
Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a technology management consultant for large corporations. I gave up that career to do this work. My corporate background combined with my counseling skill gives me a unique ability to provide help for professional people who want to confront and resolve their problems at work or at home.
I support individuals and couples who are dealing with the following issues:
~ Relationship or communication problems (personal and professional)
~ Mood issues
~ Grief (loss or bereavement)
~ Overcoming past abuse
~ Handling life transitions (moving, marriage, retirement, divorce, care-giving)
~ Workaholic tendencies (Type-A behavior patterns)
~ Chronic stress, burn-out
If these topics are of interest to you, please call me to discuss your needs.
