I believe that the mind is the most powerful healing instrument available to us. A healthy mind allows for enjoyment and fulfillment in everyday life, and can help protect us from physical illness. However, under certain adverse circumstances such as elevated stress, loss, family conflicts, or early dysfunctional relationships, the mind can weaken and become unable to provide us with the pleasure and the healing it is capable of. Feeling angry, unmotivated, sad, unfulfilled, empty, and confused can be extremely uncomfortable and painful, leading us to look for a quick solution. These feelings, however, represent important messages that the mind is sending us, an attempt on its part to tell us that something is affecting its optimal functioning, and that needs help.
In my approach to therapy, I encourage people to listen carefully to what they experience as uncomfortable feelings, and I offer my help and expertise in uncovering what may have caused them. These feelings have a history, their own right to be. By discovering and exploring the origins of these negative feelings we can acquire a greater understanding of how our mind works, what can affect its healthy functioning, and how to find instead peace, happiness, and beauty in life. As we learn this, we become more capable of changing long standing life patterns that may have ultimately adversely affected our well being.
Time and time again, I have witnessed the impact that insight has had on people's lives. In my experience, people feel very much empowered by the acquisition of an understanding of the origins of their discomfort, and it is always with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I welcome the mind's reacquisition of it is full potential.
