Every day I drink my morning coffee from a cup that boldly announces "Life is Good." A simple statement, but, one that I believe to be true. Yes....life can be hard. Fear, sadness, and anger can cripple each one of us from enjoying what life has to offer. But, at its core, I truly believe life was meant to be enjoyed and people were meant to thrive. It is my passion to encourage others and walk beside them as they discover this truth within themselves.
You are a fighter. You are an over-comer. I am here to help you help yourself. It is my mission to empower others to acknowledge their value, embrace hope and discover their purpose. I do this by showing great care and compassion for the individual. I will help you recognize areas where you may be experiencing difficulty and will be by your side as you take steps toward changing what you are able to change. Life is a sacred journey that is filled with many twists and turns, but, it also offers growth and an opportunity to discover amazing things. I am eager to begin this journey with you. Let's move forward!

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love working with teens! I have had the joy of working with young people and their families for the past 20 years in a church setting and now for the past 5 years in my private practice. In my position, I have grieved with young people who have lost a loved one, I have listened to the life story of an emotional young woman in the midst of the northern Minnesota wilderness, I have observed the anger dissipate from a young man as he shared with me the pain of his childhood and I have watched a teen grow in leadership as she lead games with children from an orphanage in Haiti. All of these experiences I count as a blessing. What a joy it is to see youth grow in character and to discover their inner strengths.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

According the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services administration, only 45-65 percent with moderate to severe mental health issues seek help. The reason for this being that there continues to be stigmas that therapy is for the weak or it is too expensive. There are many individuals who are not only suffering needlessly, but, may be making a difficult situation worse. The earlier you address a problem, the less time and stress will be involved. Look at therapy as a healthy choice like eating more green vegetables or exercising! You are making your life easier with the support of a caring and compassionate professional.
