I use a client-centered approach, offering each client unconditional positive regard, regardless of your issue. I have specialized training in sex therapy and work with both couples and individuals on issues such as pain during sex, or sexual aversion, communication difficulties, sexual desire discrepancies, erectile dysfunction, lack of enjoyment or satisfaction from sex, sexual shame or guilt, sexual trauma, and more. I have a specialized interest working with religious couples whose sexual issues are rooted in religious guilt or shame. As an eclectic therapist, I use various techniques depending on the issue, including gestalt therapy, internal family systems, relational psychotherapy, Gottman couples therapy, and emotion-focused therapy techniques.
I have extensive training in trauma-centric techniques, including mindfulness, somatic attunement, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). I graduated from Widner University, where I completed a nationally respected dual master’s degree program in human sexuality and social work.
I am a Maryland licensed social worker, as well as a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. I’m also a member of the Greater Washington Society of Clinical Social Workers. I have presented at conferences and published articles on sex addiction, sexual fantasies, and religion and sexuality.
