Many clients I see are struggling with life issues. This may take the form of anxiety or depression, or it may look like grief/loss or life transitions. No matter what the problem you are facing, there are things that can help! If you are wondering what benefit counseling might have for you, I would encourage you to try it. Counseling may not change what is going on around you, but it can help you to cope and heal from whatever emotions or difficulties you are having. When I sit down to work with someone, I seek to understand what they are going through and what their goals are. Based on this information, I will design a plan for therapy that can address all concerns and goals. I believe in evidence-based therapy because that is what the research shows to be most effective. Therapy such as CBT and EMDR have been shown to have great results. In my practice alone, I have been privileged to see the healing that has transpired in individual lives as they work toward their goals with these effective therapies.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I really enjoy working with individuals who have experienced some kind of trauma. Often this shows up in their lives as depression or anxiety. It is rewarding to begin to see the symptoms decrease and the healing occur.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The purpose of psychotherapy is to promote growth and healing. It is a partnership between the therapist and client to cope with difficult situations and to address past difficulties in order to move forward in life without carrying those burdens.
