My Approach to Helping
It is often very difficult to find the right person to work with when you are going through a crisis or a time of change. Finding the right therapist can make a big difference in adjusting to changes in life and finding positive and often unexpected outcomes. It is essential that you feel that your therapist listens to you and understands you. I try to cultivate a feeling of openness and engagement that is supportive and non-judgmental yet challenging at the same time.
I work in a way to support a person's individuation process to help them become the person they are meant to be. I am guided primarily by a psychodynamic orientation, but I use many different techniques as needed such as Mindfulness-Based CBT. This helps me understand and work with both the inner process of transformation and the outer manifestations of that process. I collaborate with the client in helping them see what their inner life and their environment is bringing to them and how to understand and work with it at a deeper level. This process results in growth and transformation of the person on both inner and outer levels.
