My primary goal for every first session is to truly listen, so that the client knows that a caring therapist is fully engaged with them and their problem(s). My treatment is solution focused while exploring for root causes, insight and productive change options. After a thorough exploration of the issues and problem, I work with the client to develop a plan of action to which the client willingly chooses to implement. Home work is often assigned along with various print and internet resources. Since I am a Christian counselor I often include prayer and scripture as integral components of therapy. (I am never evangelistic, not attempt to persuade anyone to any belief or philosophy. I am a pragmatic, empathetic, knowledgeable, caring, sensitive and wise Christian counselor.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
ACT - Acceptance and commitment therapy is proving very effective in confronting the thoughts and feelings associated with anxiety and depression. My clients learn to turn off the "Struggle Switch" so that overwhelming fears and worries do not control their minds. Likewise, learning to live by your important values empowers you to stop making poor, self-destructive choices. My clients learn to be mindful of the moment both internally and externally, so that issue of the past or fears of the future are not over-powering. For my Christian clients, we will seek God to guide and inspire you to live out with wholeness the best life He has planned for you.
My Therapy Focus
I am convinced that no "cookie-cutter" therapy fits everyone. By diligently listening, I always attempt to explore problems from the realm of one's spirit, mind, emotions and body (which often retains and expresses psychological issues). I believe in a 3 dimension view of the person -- spirit, soul and body. Therapy is often multi-modal by addressing one's spiritual life, thoughts, emotions, behaviors and physiological/bodily issues. Couples therapy (Gottman Method) focuses on 1.) Constructive Conflict, 2.) Friendship & Intimacy, 3.) Shared Meaning for life together.
