You can work through trauma and I may be able to help you.

The goal of therapy is to find and heal the places where you are stuck--and in emotional and psychological pain--so you can live the life you desire. Symptoms of depression, anxiety, fear, guilt, anger and/or addiction can be the result of emotionally and physically difficult life events. We cannot change the past but in therapy we can work through the difficulties and clear the leftover residue.

I believe you can change, work through difficult things, and heal. I believe emotional and mental health are fundamental to overall quality of life. My training includes specialized ways of working with emotional health and posttraumatic symptoms, and this work is rich, deeply meaningful and can lead to hope, healing and lasting change.

More Info About My Practice

I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR therapy provides a way to treat trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and posttraumatic stress (PTS). Treatable symptoms of trauma can include anger, depression, anxiety, fear, distressing body sensations, negative self-beliefs, unhealthy acting out and addiction.

I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. IFS provides an understanding of people as being good at the core and capable of healing, growth and transformation. It also provides a gentle, yet deep way to work in therapy.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I help people like you work with your emotions and feelings to find healing and growth. The way I work is to find safe, comfortable ways to approach distress, to make it safe to feel your feelings, whatever they are. Once you feel safe to feel what you need to feel, I would work with you to feel those feelings, strong as they need to be, learning what you need to learn about yourself and your experiences, as if the emotion parts of yourself are like messengers from deep within, guiding in the path of needed learning and unlearning, growth, unburdening and transformation. In this way your brain and body are able to sort out and heal themselves, finding empowerment and resilience.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy can help you to get unstuck and move forward. As mammals we all need relationships with others to be healthy. While non-professional relationships such as those with family and friends can and often do meet this human need, sometimes a relationship with a skilled and compassionate professional therapist can make all the difference. Many of us do not have key people who can give devoted, dedicated time, care and attention while we sort and work through our problems. As well, often family, friends and acquaintances lack experience or training to help with certain difficult life circumstances, or may be too close to the problem.

My Role as a Therapist

My role is to meet you were you are and work on those issues on which you want to work. I find it very important that we work on the areas on which you want to work. I enjoy meeting people who are seeking help, asking why they are there and what they want, and then with them creating and working on a plan to address those issues. This process of healing is deeply personal, beautiful and a big deal.
