I work with people to move them through their defenses, which often come up as blame and judgment, to get in touch with their more vulnerable feelings and the needs connected to those feelings. In order to do this I use a variety of vehicles depending on the area we are trying to traverse. Initially I teach cognitive behavioral or even behavioral methods to change behaviors that are causing problems. In order to connect to some of the deeper emotions I use Mindfulness. To work through early childhood schemas that effect perspective and depth of reaction I will often employ EMDR. The overall view is a deep respect for people's ability to move towards health and growth. So we move at a pace that they are comfortable with.

More Info About My Practice

My fee is $120.00/session. I have a sliding scale and can usually negotiate with people for a fee that they can afford. The insurances I take are Blue Shield, Value Options, and Claremont EPA. If you have a PPO insurance plan, they will generally cover my services.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am adept at helping people, either individually or in couples, who are acting out of childhood issues that are effecting them adversely in their current life. Some of these issues that show up are emotional deprivation, abandonment, unlovability, social isolation, or entitilement. These are all schemas that stem from needs that where not met in their childhood. They show up as extreme reactions to minor situations in their current life and keep them from having the closeness and support they crave.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The purpose of therapy is to help you learn more about yourself and to have some tools to help you navigate the difficult terrain of your inner life.
