In a fast-paced world full of distractions, it's easy to become overwhelmed and run-down. It's vital to slow down and take care of yourself. Therapy is a way for you to do that. People sometimes find themselves uncertain about starting therapy, not knowing what to anticipate. My goal is to support you in feeling comfortable and understood as we work in navigating challenges that come your way. You'll find ease in setting aside time to release stress, relax and recharge. Life can throw anyone off-balance and it's important to find help in carrying the load. I specialize in working with victims of trauma, adolescence, young adults, couples, mood disorders, anxiety, addiction and grief/loss, I also have special interest in working with the LGBTQ community and maintain a diverse practice.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
My clinical focus is in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which includes childhood trauma, sexual trauma, domestic abuse, and victimization and related disorders such as panic, agoraphobia and generalized anxiety.Recently have been continuing my education/training in the field through UC Berkley Trauma-Informed Interventions. I have experience working closely with foster youth, and juvenile offenders and am skilled in working with attachment, anger management, teen depression and oppositional defiance/conduct disorders. I enjoy treating women's issues, including body image, self-esteem, perfectionism and healthy relationships. I also enjoy working with the LGBTQ population, and Gender Identity issues, and have recently continued my education in this field. I am also skilled working with substance abuse and recovery from addictions. Currently I am developing further skills working with major depression, self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation and chronic mental illnesses as a case manager at a local psychiatric facility.
Part of the joy of therapy is working together to find what fits best for you from the tools and techniques I have found helpful to others and from constantly growing as a professional in the field.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
My philosophy of treatments is based on the psycho dynamic theory which suggests once we are consciously aware of our unconscious behavior we will have a greater capacity to self-regulate and self-soothe . I believe increased awareness leads to an improved ability to maintain a connected and authentic sense of self which sets the platform for healthy relationships and increased ability to be truly present in our lives. Being aware of our needs and being able to articulate them without fear of abandonment or retaliation is the cornerstone of maturity and developing healthy relationships. I truly believe and practice the development of conscious awareness which leads to subsequent increased quality of relationships, and overall well-being.
