Life can be hard. We look up one day and realize that we are not where we thought we would be, living a life we didn't imagine or feeling far away from the person that we want to be. We feel lost and stuck. My work focuses on helping people understand and settle into those stuck moments, reconnect with the values and direction that they want to go and helps them put the steps together to get there.
I believe that this process requires a supportive environment of empathy and trust but is also work, and is active. I am not a passive therapist and work hard to blend listening and support with guidance and tools to allow each client to begin discovering, healing and creating their own vision for their life. Most clients feel safe and understood and walk away with a better understanding of themselves, their relationships and how to become more mindful and aware of where they are and how they want to live.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I have 15 years experience working with women, men, teens, young adults and families in various settings including residential treatment, college counseling and private practice. I have worked with hundreds of teens, young adults, adults and families through difficulties in parenting, communication, stress management, motivation, depression, anxiety, worries, life changes after becoming a parent, academic and career struggles and trauma.
Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work
I use an eclectic mix of therapeutic techniques because I do not believe that therapy is a one size fits all model. Intervention and techniques include Acceptance and Commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, insight-oriented therapy, use of relaxation and mindfulness techniques and psycho-educational information, as needed. These techniques work well together to help clients establish stability, develop healthy relationships, manage difficult emotions, develop a positive self-image and feel contented and accepting of themselves and their life.
