I recognize that to better help people, it is important to have a combination of a strong therapeutic rapport, which includes an atmosphere of trust, and use of evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Treatment techniques (which may include cognitive-behavioural therapy, if it is likely to be beneficial) are selected based on the best available research for what will be effective for treating a condition or disorder, and according to varied client needs and characteristics.
I recognize that I am genuinely compassionate, accepting, and empathic, which helps me to remain attuned to my client and to be supportive throughout the treatment process. These therapist factors contribute to establishing therapeutic rapport, and the atmosphere of trust, which is very important to therapy outcomes (and, of course, also contribute to a positive therapy experience). I recognize the importance of both of these factors (therapeutic rapport, and evidence-based therapy and assessment) because I want to provide treatments that help improve my clients' well-being.
