More Info About My Practice

So that I can provide the best possible care to you, I prefer to see you from one to three times per week, because it is important to me that you feel held as you go through the deep process of therapy. When you make an appointment with me, your time will be yours, and I will hold that for you from week to week unless we've previously arranged a different schedule. I am not on insurance panels, but will provide a receipt for you to send to your insurance company. Your company may provide partial reimbursement; please call them to check. My office is a PoC, LGBTQ-friendly, body positive, social justice focused, and kink aware space.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I enjoy working with people who are in transitional places in life and relationships. Sometimes, when there has been not enough space for emotional communication in your life, it's hard to listen to the parts of you that are asking to be heard. It can become easier to try to figure out what other people think and want than it is to really listen to your own needs. Therapy with me can offer a space where we can discover, meet, tend to, and accept all the places in you that need attention. It is possible to shift away from rigid, internal lines and toward a place with more flexibility and compassion.

I also particularly like working with adult children of alcoholics, people diagnosed with Bipolar, Depression, Borderline PD, Body image issues, and people who are reconfiguring or relaunching their lives after a transition (divorce, finishing college, empty nest, change of career, etc).

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

We live in a culture that celebrates the boot strap mentality. We're told to "just get over it", and forego communication, conversation, connection, and authenticity in favor of isolation and denial. Our cultural system is set up to isolate us, because when we're isolated, we lose our power. Asking for help and connection, and learning how to love yourself and care for yourself extends power and capability to you and the people you love. There is something very profound and powerful about sharing vulnerable places in yourself with someone who can respond with acceptance, thoughtfulness, and care. I am skilled at "going deeply" at your pace, and this kind of therapeutic connection can help you feel more attuned to yourself and your relationships.

    I work to make my office and therapeutic treatment a safe space for people of color, queer, trans* and genderqueer folks, and stay mindful of the intersectionality of privilege, oppression, and access across groups.
