Billing and Insurance
I don't currently accept insurance, but I can provide documentation if clients wish to submit to an insurance company for "out of network" benefit coverage
Fees: My practice is private pay. My rate is $165 per clinical hour (45 minutes). I provide clients with a form if they would like to submit it for out of network insurance reimbursement. Please see my website for specific questions you can ask your insurance company to determine your out of network benefits: http://legacycounselingservice.com/fees-faqs/

New or longstanding health problems may leave you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, and isolated. You may not sleep well, get along with others, or feel confident in navigating daily life. I love being able to help people see their worth, potential, and learn skills to confidently navigate the things that are important to them in life. You are more than your disability or chronic health problems, and I enjoy helping people rediscover who they really are. My approach to therapy is relaxed and collaborative...we work together as a team so that you can identify thoughts and choices that aren't working so well and figure out how things can be better and you feel more joyful, hopeful, connected, and confident.

More Info About My Practice
I also provide group treatments for 1) depression, anxiety, and stress which is called Living Life Well, 2) chronic pain, and 3) insomnia.
The Living Life Well group is a 6-week group that is very interactive and teaches skills that are proven to decrease feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress. This group is helpful whether this is your only means of getting treatment or if you want to compliment your current individual therapy. I'll work closely with your current individual therapist to keep them in the loop of what we are working on in group.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
I view therapy as a process of discovery, learning, teaching, and experimenting with new ideas, thoughts, and choices. We all have our own experiences that influence how we view and react to things. To me, the purpose of therapy is to figure out if our perspectives, reactions, and intentional choices really reflect our values, and if they are helpful in reaching our goals. I don't believe that the goal in life is to "be happy" all the time, but to be able to experience our emotions fully while being respectful of ourselves and others, to be able to bounce back from tough situations, and make choices that reflect what's really important to us.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Many people wonder if therapy can be helpful, especially if your emotional struggles are due to medical problems...you might view the "problem" as being your medical condition and that you can't do anything to fix the medical condition so you just have to live with how things are. Yes, you MIGHT be right that you can't fix your medical problem, but you might be wrong in the belief that you just have to live with how things are. Many times, the way you think about things and the choices you make influence how you feel about something. Just because you can't fix problem "A" doesn't mean you can't positively influence it, or even fix problem "B" or "C". I always ask my clients: what could you do right now that would help you cope with "X"? It might take 3 or 4 therapy appointments to begin to answer that question and to act on it. You are worth the risk of trying out therapy...it's usually helpful for most people, and it will probably be helpful for you, too.
