"Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know." With more than 10 years of experience working with individuals, families and couples, I can collaborate with you in this journey of discovery. I endeavor to create an environment in which my clients feel safe to share their experiences and feelings without feeling judged.

I have worked with individuals, families and couples to accomplish their individual goals and better their relationships. I have experience working with people on issues including self-esteem, family conflict, anxiety, parenting skills, depression, relationship issues and sexual expression issues.

In family sessions, I strive to assist family members to improve communication, solve family problems, and create a better functioning home environment. More Info About My Practice

Prepare for marriage. Improve your marriage.

I have also been trained as a facilitator for the Prepare/Enrich program. The PREPARE-ENRICH program for all types of couples, dating, engaged, and married couples. PREPARE-ENRICH is one of the most widely used programs for premarital counseling and premarital education. The program is also used for marriage counseling, marriage enrichment, and dating couples considering engagement. The program was developed 30 years ago and over 3 million couples have participated. Premarital and marriage counseling can benefit all couples - straight, gay, or lesbian.

The PREPARE/ENRICH program begins with a customized couple assessment completed online that identifies a couple's strength and growth areas. Based on a couple's results, Melissa - a trained facilitator and licensed counselor - provides 4-8 private feedback sessions in which the she helps the couple discuss and understand their results. As part of the feedback process, the program teaches the couple proven and relevant relationship skills like communication and conflict resolution. My Role as a Therapist

The uniqueness and strength of the patient-therapist relationship forms a vehicle for therapeutic inquiry and growth. It will be my role to create a safe and comfortable environment for this relationship to form. It is understood that the rapport between therapist and patient is one of the most consistent predictors of successful treatment. As trust builds between the therapist and the patient so does self-knowledge and understanding for the patient. There will be times that I will be the expert but, it is important to know that the client is the expert of themselves.
