When you are trying to solve a problem in your life, wouldn't you want to use all tools possible to make this life change? Art therapy allows you to access both the emotional self as well as the part of you that is verbal. We've all heard the saying 'a picture speaks a thousand words', and you don't have to be an artist to do art therapy!! It's not about the product but the process of getting there and what the art means to you AND ONLY YOU. I am eager and excited to work in an outpatient setting with clients who are open and willing to make changes in their lives and situations. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults in a psychiatric inpatient setting for 9 years. I believe that we all need help in life to 'plant seeds' that will grow positivity in our emotional, physical self and within interpersonal relationships. I hope I can be that advocate of change and support for further growth that you need as you face your transition in life.

My Role as a Therapist

I want to be a supporter but also confront faulty thought or behavioral patterns that may be developing as negative habits or coping mechanisms. I want to actively listen and provide a safe environment for you to feel safe and challenge you as you feel comfortable for growth and change in the areas of life you are struggling to manage at this time.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

At the hospital, I've worked with children as young as 3 and adults as old as 73 on problems ranging from ADHD to Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Bipolar, Depression and Addiction. I think that the most powerful tools are the MOTIVATION TO CHANGE and HONESTY. Using these as a foundation for your therapy sessions can help to encourage growth and increase self awareness. I'm here to listen and help you build tools that will increase your power to change. A house isn't solid without foundation and many times we think we can 'fix' the exterior without addressing the true feelings we often hold inside. Art therapy is a valuable tool in accessing these emotions, increasing self awareness, and giving powerful insight to our self conscious.
