We all experience conflict from time to time. Indeed, our biggest conflicts can often be with the people we are closest to. When we resolve conflict, we strengthen relationships. But sometimes the conflicts which arise are rooted in conflicts internal to ourselves. These may be immediate issues or they may be rooted in trauma from our past. Learning to name, address, and resolve these issues, wherever they arise, allows for healing.

More Info About My Practice

Because pastoral counselors are not licensed in the State of Missouri, my services are not covered by most insurance companies. I strive to keep my fees low and have a sliding fee scale.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have worked in the St Louis community for over 30 years to intervene with abuse in intimate relationships. Most of that work has been with men. That experience has prepared me to work with couples when there is a high level of conflict in such a way that safety is preserved and accountability is created.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is about healing the psyche, the sense we each have of our unique person-hood. While healing is a natural process it is greatly accelerated by relationships in which the other is deeply concerned for our well-being and has no attachment to who we are... in which we are free to explore and discover who we are.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

I have been in a variety of therapies over the last thirty years. From time to time my wife and I seek marriage counseling. We do it because we care about ourselves and our relationship to each other. We know we can't see our own face without a mirror.
