Some of life's challenges are simply too difficult to overcome on our own. At times, with or without the support of loved ones, we become overwhelmed with internal and/or external events that seem to paralyze us in our life's journey. Accepting the need to reach out for help during these times truly is the initial step in the healing and "overcoming the barriers" process. My approach as a therapist is to ensure my client's trust not only in my capacity as a therapist but also in my ability to increase trust in themselves to find the answers within. It is an eclectic approach that also integrates holistic therapies, which my clients find enjoyable and refreshing. I am bilingual (Spanish) and bi-cultural (South American) and I take much pride in being able to provide my services in a culturally competent way.
I have extensive experience in working with youth and families. I possess excellent skills in crisis management, dealing with trauma, parent-child conflicts, anger management, anxiety, depression, parenting skills, self-esteem issues, special education, ADHD, teen pregnancy, sexual identity issues, couples counseling, among others.
I have 15 years experience providing intensive in-home crisis intervention and therapy, as an independent contractor for the NJ Children's System of Care. I believe in-home therapy is a highly effective approach in addressing difficult family dynamics as it provides the ability to both observe my clients in their natural environment, at a higher comfort level, and to identify resources (or the lack of them) within the home. This is a treatment option we can explore and discuss during initial consultation.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
On the contrary, seeking out therapy demonstrates your ability to recognize challenges you are experiencing and probably have not been able to overcome on your own successfully. It means you are receptive and open to new and different methods, strategies, suggestions, skills to overcome these challenges. It means you have taken a first step towards resolution outside of yourself. It means you are brave and strong, ready to move on and move forward.
