Making the choice to enter into therapy can be difficult. You may be struggling to communicate your wants and needs in your primary relationship. You may be questioning your identity. You may feel stuck. You may feel lonely and depressed and need someone to talk to. You may find yourself spinning out of control in one or more aspects of your life and just need to come back to center. Whatever the reason, you ended up here and that tells me you are actively seeking help. Good for you for beginning the journey back to your core. If we have the chance to work together, I will continue to encourage you to listen to your own voice as you progress towards mental wellbeing. I will help you negotiate thoughts and feelings that may arise while exploring your life themes in therapy. I will ask difficult questions. I will offer advice. I will encourage you to challenge yourself. Most importantly, I will be present and listening.
There are several forms of therapeutic intervention. My background and ongoing training in the arts and psychotherapy have led to me developing an eclectic style, which means I tailor my approach to the person(s) with whom I am working.

More Info About My Practice
In addition to traditional talk therapy, I also utilize Expressive Arts modalities when appropriate and if the client is interested. Expressive therapy involves an arts-based approach to identifying and working through issues by utilizing one or more arts modalities such as music, visual art, dance, drama, or creative writing and poetry. Research has shown that engaging in a creative process improves one's emotional wellbeing and is effective in helping individuals lower stress and fatigue, increase cognitive abilities, reduce pain, and improve their overall quality of life. By integrating one or more expressive arts modalities into the therapeutic process, individuals are able to identify and let go of defenses that keep them from realizing the possibilities of their lives. Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I work with individuals (ages 15+), families, and couples and have supported clients with a wide variety of developmental and emotional concerns including anxiety, depression, adjustment, cultural concerns and sensitivity, LGBTQ sexual identity and orientation, relationship issues, nontraditional relationships, general social and life skills, bereavement and grief processing, death and dying, existential concerns, self-esteem, physical and emotional trauma, PTSD, women's issues, and family concerns.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
Most of us live very busy lives and rarely pause to focus on what's important to us. Therapy can provide a space for exploring what really matters and allow individuals to sift through unresolved issues that keep them from realizing their potential.
