More Info About My Practice
I love to work with people of all ages and backgrounds. I have training in working with people from various cultural backgrounds, thus my style of counseling is attuned to the unique journey of life that is yours. I work from a curious approach - never assuming anything about you without asking. I work at your pace, love to incorporate your own ideas, and ultimately view therapy as a collaborative effort between counselor and client. I also enjoy working with clients long term. To have ongoing support throughout your life is a wonderful gift. I have personally seen the benefits from long-term counseling.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Counseling is really challenging. It has several stigmas... "Only crazy people go to counseling," "Psycho-babble," "The Shrink". The reality is that even the most "normal" of people can benefit from counseling. And while I hold fast to the idea that nobody is truly normal, it can really help you feel like you're not as strange as you once thought you were. You would be surprised at how many people deal with similar issues to you, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Therapy and counseling can help you feel more connected to another person, help you deconstruct issues in your own life, and be a safe space for you to tell someone your deepest secrets. These things alone can be paramount in changing your life. Counseling can also help you find useful tools to battle the problems that anxiety, depression, stress, and other challenging experiences bring.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
My initial reaction to this question - Just. Do. It. It doesn't have to be me, you can see anybody but I highly recommend that you just do it! If you hate it, hey, at least you tried it! Having a therapist is such a unique and special relationship, there are very few like it.
You never know until you try.
