If you are looking for a compassionate therapist to help you to better understand yourself and to negotiate stressful situations, then you have made a good start. In my 16 years of practice, I've helped people to adapt to common changes, such as new relationships or jobs, or to cope with catastrophic events. I have a great deal of experience with substance abuse and recovery. Adolescents, adults, and couples make up the majority of my practice. Based on my education and years of experience, I have acquired a wide variety of skills, and I often use a combination of approaches, unless there is a specific need for a particular therapy. I also help writers and artists of all kinds to develop and maintain their creative potential. If you are interested in artistic development, my credentials as a writer/editor are below:

My memoir is forthcoming with W.W. Norton in January 2014. I have been awarded the Washington Writing Prize in short fiction in 2008; two Pushcart Prize nominations; a fellowship with the Vermont Studio Center, 2011; a scholarship to the Squaw Valley Community of Writers summer workshop, 2009; and my novels have been finalists in the Pirate's Alley Faulkner Competition. I have published in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and several literary reviews.
