You are ready for your life to be different? By seeking out help to overcome substance abuse, addiction, or codependency issues, you have taken the first step in making a change. The next step is to choose someone who will walk with you on the journey. My approach to helping is that of a guide and a cheerleader. I am not the type of therapist who will straight out tell you what to do, engage in argumentative discussion, or "cure" you. As a therapist, I tend to listen more than I talk, pay attention to you throughout the session, ask strategic questions about the issues that you raise, and provide feedback to you in order to help you find an understanding of your own personal questions and answers. If you are ready to make changes, it takes an extreme amount of courage to ask for help. I want to support you in learning and practicing the skills you need to stay on your new path. If you have reached the point where you'd like to take back your life and you are looking for outpatient drug and alcohol treatment, codependency treatment, an intervention for a loved one, or relapse prevention therapy; I can help. Contact me today - I look forward to speaking with you!

More Info About My Practice
In addition to individual therapy, I provide substance abuse evaluations and SAP evaluations (under the DOT regulations). For clinicians, I am available to do clinical supervision to individuals seeking licensure (LCSW, LPC, or LAC) or CAC certification in the State of Colorado. Payment is due at the time of service and I accept cash, check, credit cards, and money orders. For Interventions, Substance Abuse Evaluations, or SAP Evaluations, I may be willing to arrange a payment plan based on your current circumstances, please ask at the time that you schedule your appointment. I am currently a preferred provider with Cigna and with several Employee Assistance Plans (EAP) including Anthem EAP and Empathia. If you are interested, I will be happy to call your insurance company on your behalf to help determine if you have out of network benefits. If it will be helpful, I will provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance plan and I will help you seek reimbursement if it is available within the guidelines of your plan.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
If there is one thing I have learned over the years, both through my own experience and that of my clients, it is this: therapy can change your life. Working within a framework that is backed by science, the research around cognitive behavioral therapy has shown it to be effective with addiction treatment by its ability to help you change thought patterns and behaviors.
However, know this: therapy can be fun, challenging, uplifting, and emotionally draining. You have to be prepared to do the work. If you come to therapy for one hour each week that leaves 167 hours that occur outside the therapy office. Your progress in therapy will depend more on what you do outside our therapy time rather than in that one therapy hour.
Finally, I believe that you and I are equal partners in the therapy process. We should experience mutual trust and respect in the therapeutic relationship in order for change to happen. I will act as a guide and a cheerleader, be a good listener, and keep my own biases in check. If that sounds like it would be a good fit for you, call me today. I look forward to speaking with you!
