People need to know that help is available by an individual who will help them focus on the issues at hand and not be critical of their choices. As a professional counselor I seek to work with individuals in a non-judgmental, understanding and compassionate manner. I hope to assist people to bring about choice and empowerment that they may feel is not possible. Life can be difficult but help is out there and available. I do tend to take a reality based and person centered approach within my sessions, however every person is an individual and therefore my interventions will be tailored to that particular person.

I specialize in working with depression and every day issues that bring anxiety or despair to a person. Providing a safe therapeutic environment where one can feel secure to discuss their problems and life in general is my main goal.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

I have worked with many people who are unsure about therapy. At the end of our treatment most have indicated "it really wasn't that bad", or " I am glad I gave this a try". Starting counseling can be very scary for many as there are many stigma's attached to it. However I believe no one should "suffer" alone and why not give it a try; what do you have to loose. If you don't like it then you can make the decision to not continue.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

I believe that each individual person drives their own therapy including how long it takes, how often to meet and when they are ready to terminate. There is no time limit as to how long therapy can last or how often one comes to see me. I see individuals anywhere from a couple of times a week to once a month depending on the needs of that particular person. The course of treatment is always decided between my client with guidance from myself.
