I strongly believe people have the capacity to change, heal and grow, but I also understand how challenging it can be to move forward when you're facing problems alone. Working together, we will take steps to help you find relief from your current distress, find or strengthen relationships, develop awareness and gain insight about yourself, and engage in healthier coping. More Info About My Practice
As a relationally focused therapist, I have extensive experience helping individuals work on finding or maintaining healthy, satisfying relationships. I aid my clients in exploring how their past experiences affect present day struggles. In addition to talk therapy, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with my clients; an evidenced-based treatment, which helps people heal from trauma.
My Therapy Focus
I'm experienced helping individuals and couples manage a variety of issues, including: anxiety; depression; relationship conflict; grief and loss; trauma; low self-esteem; sexuality; and parenting and family problems.
In addition to the individual and couples work I do with adults, I am very passionate about and skilled in working with pre-teens, teenagers and young adults. I help my clients engage in identity exploration, navigate life transitions, improve communication, and address/improve peer problems and behavioral issues.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Finding a therapist who feels like a good match is key. It is crucial to choose a clinician whom you believe has skill helping people with the issues you're hoping to work on in counseling, and most importantly, someone you believe you can form a trusting relatonship with. When you meet with a therapist for the first time, it is helpful to ask yourself: Does this clinician make me feel comfortable? Does he/she seem judgmental? Is this therapist a compassionate listener? Does he/she seem to understand what I want to work on and how therapy could be helpful?
