I believe that my clients are the experts on their lives, and before even coming to counseling they have found ways to manage their lives. My goal as a counselor is to help my clients recognize the healthy ways in which they already live, and learn to recreate those successes in other areas of life that are more challenging. I do not view my clients as diagnoses or issues; they are beautiful, complex humans who have survived a myriad of experiences and are perhaps at a place where they need extra support in managing their lives. While every person experiences times in their lives where they feel out of control, it takes a strong, determined person to reach out for help. As a counselor, I strongly respect my clients' right to choose to participate in counseling. I take care to get to know them in order to provide therapy that meets their needs and fits within their lifestyle and culture. I primarily pull from Solution Focused, Person Centered, and Feminist therapies while integrating mindfulness and trauma-informed techniques to create a personalized therapy approach for each client.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Strange as it may seem, finding a counselor is a lot like dating. You may have to meet with a few different people before you feel you've found "the one". It can be especially hard to keep looking when you have had a poor experience with a therapist in the past. If you are one of these people, I encourage you to keep going, even if you need to take a break before beginning the search again. While I hope that I can be the counselor best suited to work with you, I know that won't always be the case, and that's ok! The relationship between a counselor and a client is crucial to healing, so keep looking until you find someone with whom you can feel comfortable, open, and heard.
