We all experience difficult times in life. Sometimes, the problem solving skills we have used to deal with our problems no longer seem to work and we remain stuck without a solution. My goal as a counselor is to help you overcome these periods of difficulty by being an objective listener, reflecting feelings and refining problem solving skills. My goal is not to advise you but rather to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and how sometimes our own thoughts and behaviors can attribute to the difficulties we experience.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I believe most struggles develop due to coping skills that no longer work. When previous coping skills no longer work, relationship issues develop. By learning new coping and communication skills as well as a commitment to self care, I believe a person can live a more fulfilled life.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I began my own journey in counseling as a teenager during a challenging time. Over the years, counseling has helped me become more mindful of not only how I treat myself but how I treat others. I now feel very comfortable with who I am and have learned coping skills that I practice regularly when life becomes challenging. My journey has included learning compassion and forgiveness for myself which in turn helps me teach others how they can do the same.
