Through life experiences, both great and small, we develop a belief system that influences the way we view the world and our place in it. Experiences that are difficult to understand and painful to recall, can give rise to negative and maladaptive coping strategies that ultimately cause us to see the world as an imposing and often confusing place. Through the the process of therapy, one's limiting and negative belief system can be adjusted to one that is more realistic and positive, allowing for the experience of a world with more possibilities, and of a life that is more fulfilling and meaningful. As a therapist, it is my goal to find the balance between challenging my clients and supporting them--providing empathy and understanding, along with gentle pressure toward change and growth.

More Info About My Practice
I am co-founder of a group practice, Counseling Services of Greater Boston, where I work with several experienced therapists who have a similar philosophy and approach to therapy as mine. The clinicians at Counseling Services of Greater Boston include Dana Venable, LMHC, ATR, Amanda Bruce, LMHC, Kristen Pratt, LMHC, Kayla Esce, LMHC, Valerie Goguen, LMHC, Nova Carmichael, LMHC, R-DMT, and Deborah William, LMHC. Together, we offer many therapeutic modalities, including individual talk therapy, marriage and relationship therapy, family therapy, as well as expressive therapies. As a group we possess the skills and experience to address a wide range of issues, including problems in relationships, life-transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, conduct disorders in children and adolescents, chronic mental illness, and addictions and recovery. We also place a strong focus on the development of practical self-care and coping strategies that can help in managing difficult emotions or symptoms that can interfere with living a fulfilling life day-to-day. We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tufts Health Plan, Optum/United Behavioral Health, Harvard Pilgrim, and Tri-Care insurances. We also can accept direct paying clients, with the possibility of offering a sliding scale fee based on one's ability to pay. At Counseling Services of Greater Boston we strive to be flexible with scheduling, offering evening and weekend hours in addition to appointments during traditional business hours. While face-to-face therapy is ideal, we also offer online and web-based video therapy if needed or preferred.
