Paradox and confusion often cloud the healing process. Change comes only when we can know intimately what is already here. See if you can feel into that concept a bit. Try not to think about it or effort to figure it out, just read and feel: the only way to be different is to embrace myself as I am now. What did you feel? Was there a calm, quiet sense of understanding just before the thoughts began their inevitable race to figure it out? Or maybe all you sensed was, ?I have no idea.? Good! This intuitive sense, even of just plain not knowing, is a powerful force of truth and it exists within each of us.

You might ask, ?If it?s as simple as just being as I am right now, why do I need a therapist?? And I might answer, ?Simple yes, perhaps not so easy.? Sure it?s easy to understand intellectually: just accept myself and I?ll be healed. The experience of this is much more difficult for most of us. Having a companion on the inward journey is invaluable. I?ve been committed to my healing for many years and while I don?t know the landscape of your inner terrain?after all, we haven?t even met yet?I have cultivated the ability to stay, gently and patiently, in dark and unknown, scary and painful places. Those places, when given just enough compassionate attention, often reveal their secrets and, when the time is right, allow themselves to be simply let go.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Experiences such as Burning Man offer a glimpse of possibility. The festival culture fosters exploration, creative expression and community. Experimentation is encouraged and there is much to be learned about oneself on this harsh, glorious desert playground. The festival experience can impact relationships, bringing up new conversations about desires, needs, and boundaries. It can also bring to the surface existential questions involving the meaning of life or existing within the structures of our culture.

You might ask yourself: How can I incorporate all that I experienced at Burning Man into my life here at home? How can I create a life for myself that is more aligned with the me I experienced on the playa?

These questions are authentic, personal truths wanting to emerge. Truths ignited by the spark of the Burning Man experience. Truths that can lead to transition, either in the structure of life, or in internal perspective. These changes can be a challenge to clarify and ultimately embrace. One of my passions in life is to support others as they grapple with existential questions brought about by such experiences as Burning Man, overseas travels, ceremony work, death of a loved one, or any other life-altering event or experience.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Searching for a therapist can cause anxiety. I will be transparent about the process so you can feel confident as we begin this journey together. Call me for a free phone consultation; all questions are welcomed. At the first session you'll get a feel for how I work and we can discuss together whether or not I'm a good fit. If we're not, I can recommend someone from my trusted network who will be.
