Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

This is an issue where you need to know the importance of feeling safe and connected to who you are working with. That is the most important element in a successful therapeutic experience. This is more important than how many degrees a therapist holds, where they did their training, all of that. Therapists are people too and so there are some great ones, some average ones, and some out there who are not so great. When searching for a therapist, trust your initial response to someone. By the end of a phone conversation, you should feel either ready to move forward or to pass. Lastly, by the end of the first session, you will probably know if the therapist is the right person for you. If not, move on rather than continue with someone you are not excited to work with.
