In the course of our lives, there will come a time when we struggle with feelings of sadness, loneliness, helplessness, or lack of fulfillment. In my work with clients, I help them process their experiences, explore their feelings, and most importantly, confront themselves. Everyone comes into therapy for a different reason, whether it is facing a significant life transition, coping with the loss of a loved one, or dealing with relational conflict. Knowing that there is a safe place for one's confusion or despair is the first step to healing and growth. Based on my approach to therapy, my goal is to create an environment of warmth and genuineness. I will affirm your strengths and challenge you to use them while providing you with an opportunity to explore new ways of seeing yourself and new ways of relating to others.

I have helped adults, couples, and adolescents work through their struggles to achieve more satisfying relationships and greater personal fulfillment. Your choice of therapist is a crucial decision and finding a good match is essential. Please contact me if you think I might be a good fit for you.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Many of my clients come to see me as a result of some form of trauma. That is why I am pursuing an intensive three-year professional training program with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. Somatic Experiencing (SE) is based on the belief that the body is designed to heal itself. As such, in my practice of SE I help clients access the inherent wisdom of their own bodies in order to overcome and emerge from the debilitating and life-zapping symptoms of trauma. By gradually and step-by-step guiding clients to be able to tolerate increasingly difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions, this approach allows the root cause of trauma symptoms to be addressed.

In session, I will help clients track his/her own felt-sense experience. The felt sense involves accessing physical/bodily sensations, imagery, and motor patterns. Initially I help the client recognize and expand internal and external resources, which are then used to facilitate the mind and body’s healing process. We work to stabilize the client in a “grounded” and resourced state. We then begin working with the traumatic material in a gradual manner that facilitates the re-regulation of the nervous system back to a normal, healthy flow. As trust in the innate wisdom of the body increases, the client is able to transform trauma from completely debilitating to a sense of empowerment and self-determination.
