More Info About My Practice

Fees are based on a sliding scale from $20-50 per session. Services are provided in community centers located in the Greater Pittsburgh area which allows the opportunity to keep the cost affordable. There is no charge for the initial session as this meeting provides an opportunity for the client and therapist to get acquainted and determine if the client is comfortable speaking with the therapist and whether or not the therapist can be of assistance in the situation.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

It is my belief that my life experience has provided me a wealth of knowledge and understanding in helping others deal with their struggles. Life experience contributes a personal aspect to empathy with my clients which enables them to freely discuss their sometimes painful situation with an individual who gets it. My mother suffered from major depressive disorder and hoarding for a better part of her natural life while I was growing up. My first marriage ended due to multiple infidelities and my second marriage ended due to behaviors associated with alcoholism. I raised my now grown daughter on my own at times holding multiple jobs to make ends meet. I'm also a late bloomer in that I returned to college following my daughter's graduation from high school completing my associates, bachelors and finally master of science degree in professional counseling while working full time. My personal strength and focus has been beneficial to assisting my clients in their personal journey through counseling.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

The connection between a therapist and client is uniquely personal. The benefit of a good fit is that the client will feel comfortable sharing their struggles and life experience in an understanding and empathetic atmosphere. An at-ease therapeutic environment can be helpful in furthering change talk with the client in order to accomplish their goals from counseling.
