As an administrator, have you observed high turnover, increased absenteeism, and low morale? Has your agency been burdened with the high cost of staff turnover, reduced client census, and excessive no show rates? Have you struggled to balance your desire to serve clients well on ever shrinking budgets and revenue? Have you observed staff reporting the work environment feels toxic? Have your staff wondered whether their clients experience true healing or if staff and clients are stuck on an endless hamster wheel perpetuated by systemic and structural designs? Have your staff felt crushed by productivity expectations, taken mental health days to recover their own energy, and considered leaving their current job because of work environment?

My mission is to support mental health agency staff and administrators wanting to transform their agency to support a process from wounding to healing to thriving. I envision an organization designed to support client and staff thriving. I believe agencies can best succeed economically when they serve clients and staff and cultivate a healthy and vibrant work environment.

More Info About My Practice

I offer consultation services to mental health agency administrators who are motivated and ready to transform toxic work environments and unleash their agency's full potential. I am driven by the desire to resolve the burning questions, "How can a mental health agency with such gifted staff experience an environment that feels depleting and harmful to staff and clients? What could help an agency shift from wounding to healing to thriving to best serve clients, staff, and create sustainable fiscal stability".

My consultation work emerges out of my 20 year career as a professional counselor, teacher, supervisor, and coach. My background includes work in crisis counseling, outpatient and inpatient services in community mental health agencies serving multiple counties with complex high poverty/high needs clients, and college and university settings. In the following profile, you will see my views on psychotherapy, what I love about being a therapist, and my thoughts on the therapist-client relationship. These perspectives inform my consultation relationship, for I believe organizational healing and thriving are parallel to individual journeys experienced by agency clients and staff.

I tailor the consultation relationship to the specific culture and needs of each agency, offering methodologies that are grounded in adding value to the agency and that will address concretely both qualitative and quantitative results. If you observe your organization is mired down in low morale, high turnover, and fiscal instability and you know your agency could be so much stronger than it is, call me and let's create solutions that fit for you.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I see the potential for healing the wounds and chaos of our world beginning inside of our own hearts, minds, and bodies. I believe we live an interconnected and interdependent existence. When I feel connected with myself, aware of my wounds and potential, feel love for myself, these things I will share with others. When I extend Namaste to myself, I will extend it to you. My hope is to bridge personal healing and thriving with organizational healing and thriving. Working with individuals is linked with working with groups such as neighbors wanting to foster more connections, community members seeking to reconcile after trauma, groups wanting to tap into their own personal potentials and apply it to address community needs. Therefore I believe personal healing and possibility work is foundational to facilitating organizational and community healing and thriving. We each deserve to live connected, engaged lives filled with love and joy. Each of us matters in empowering us all to heal our global family.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

My work with you and our consulting or counseling relationship is precious ground. You may approach our work together feeling discouraged, vulnerable, grasping for hope, desiring a new direction for your agency or yourself, and carrying old wounds and messages about systems or yourself. I feel honored to be invited in to your most honest and real places within your agency or yourself. I have experienced the power and possibility emerging from creating a safe space in which we deeply listen and act in service of your growth and development. I am you and your organization's witness, your champion, holding your possibility when you do not see it for yourself. In the end, you journey on as your own champion, holding your own greatness. My greatest compliment is when you see how much of this work you did yourself. Whether we work together or not, may you find someone who will create just the space and experiences you need to heal and thrive! As you see, individual and organizational journeys have poignant parallels and mutually influence one another.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

Our wounding tends to come in relationship; thus, the consulting or counseling relationship is the transformative healing crucible. Whether we work together individually or as a group of organizational leaders or community members, your relationship with self and others is where you reconnect with your own heart, evaluate critically the messages you learned and believed about your life and the world, and begin once again to reconnect and build trusting bridges with others. If you recognize the impact of relational wounding within your own life extending outward to your organizational and global communities, you will understand how essential is our healing relationship. Therefore, I treat that relationship honorably, valuing the trust you place in our journey together.
