Billing and Insurance
I am an in-network provider for:
Fees: Over the phone or through email I will ask for your health insurance information and call your insurance company prior to our first session. You'll know your co-pay, co-insurance, or pay toward deductible amount before our first meeting so there won't be any surprises. I also accept Maine Community Health Options. If you don't have health insurance or I am out of network for your health insurance we can discuss possible payment options.

My philosophy in working with clients is that every person is a unique individual and there is no such thing as one size fits all in therapy. I am not the expert on your life; you hold the keys to your recovery and your healing process. My work with clients is high energy and dynamic, I am not a "sit back, smile and nod therapist" but rather one that will warmly challenge you with my direct nature.
Our work will begin with a phone call or email-- I will ask you a bit about yourself and what you're hoping to work on in therapy. If it feels appropriate to set up an appointment we will then spend our first few sessions in an assessment stage-- I encourage you to assess me and consider whether you feel I am a good fit for you, and I will be learning about your life history, your present day stressors, and your future goals for therapy. I acknowledge that trust building can take time and that many people have had negative experiences in therapy-- my hope for you is our time together will be helpful, supportive, and, while challenging, overall beneficial.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
So many purposes! One very simple one: to create a non-judgmental, supportive, unbiased space where you can say anything you need to say with no fear of repercussions, hurt feelings, or shame.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love witnessing the slow process of earning a persons trust and watching the many layers of self protection armor slowly be released in therapy. I love the moments when a client says, "gah! I couldn't wait to tell you this!" I love witnessing the courageous vulnerability that it takes to participate in therapy
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
I've been a big fan of therapy since I was in middle school. Due to my own personal traumatic experiences with illness and injury I've sought out, experienced, and benefited from therapy on and off for two decades. Therapy has helped me greatly, and I hope it will help you too.
