My experience tells me that most of us facing into the challenges of midlife and aging want something deeper and of more value than we have had before. We want to suffer less. My practice (both spiritual and clinical) shows me there is an authentic Self at the core of each of us, no matter what tradition we are interested in. When we are suffering, access and trust of this Reality brings peace and knowledge and healing. Helping you come to direct contact with this Self is what my work is about.

No matter what you have experienced or are experiencing now, exploring your life with with compassion and empathy can help a great deal. I use tools, concepts and practices from Jung and contemplative thinking and Mindfulness practices. I have also had shamanistic training. Together, we create a container in which you feel safe and heard.

I work with people from all walks of life, sexual preferences and life-styles.
In addition to formal psychotherapy, I also offer coaching and consultations. I can do this via phone, video, or email exchange. There is a growing need for people to work with therapists "at distance." This means that our work can be done by phone, video and email so that you do not need to come into my physical office if that is impossible, difficult or inconvenient.

More Info About My Practice

While I do not take insurance, I will give you statements that most insurance companies honor. My fee is $130-$140 per session for either in-person, phone, or video work. I also do email exchanges and offer packages to help you get started if this is your choice. These are listed on my website.

Just a little more about myself. I love this work and love working with people who truly want to change and are ready to look at themselves more seriously, but with humor as well.

My meditation practice of the past 40 years has deepened and sustained me. I welcome people who have been meditating for any length of time, including not at all. These practices bring up a great deal of material to process and sometimes working with someone who has had some similar experiences helps you explore your own.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Sometimes we feel that talking to someone would really help, but...then there's the fears of opening up, of the financial commitment, of having another person see what has been shameful or too intense to even think about. Then there were all those traumas in childhood, a serious can of worms that seems overwhelming.

All of these feelings are genuine and serious to consider. This is why you need to understand that we will do this together, at your own pace, in your own way. Respect for your process is the single most important quality a psychotherapist can offer you. If you think you might be ready and yet feel ambivalent, give me (or others that attract your attention) a call and realize that the therapy is 100% in your hands. You can come in, see how you "fit" with the therapist and realize you are in control.

A really important thing to remember is that you do not have to suffer alone, sometimes what has been wounded in relationships can only be healed by another compassionate and empathetic relationship.
