How Psychotherapy Can Help

Psychotherapy can give all of us an opportunity to gain greater understanding and clarity into the issues that we may be facing in our lives. In a strong and supportive alliance, effective psychotherapy can help us to make positive change in our lives and move towards growth, productivity, healing, fulfilling relationships, and success.

My Role as a Therapist

I work with couples, individuals, families, and adolescents experiencing conflict, relationship stress, and mental health issues. I strongly value ongoing training and education so that I may provide solid research-based strategies and solutions.

I have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and currently work towards certification. EFT is a structured and effective approach to working with couples and their relationships developed by Dr. Sue Johnson (www.iceeft.com).

In addition to my work with couples, I also provide DBT-informed individual, family, and group (skills training) therapy. I have received comprehensive and intensive training from Dr. Michael Maslar ( Director of the Mindfulness and Behavior Therapies at The Family Institute at Northwestern University). I have also completed EMDR trauma training and remain interested in integrating EMDR strategies into my work.

I have completed an MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction) course and actively use mindfulness based strategies in all of my work. I am pursuing teacher training in MBSR through the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Mindfulness and also have strong interests in Somatic Experiencing to address trauma. Currently, I lead a weekly Adult Mindfulness & Stress Management Group (Thursdays) and an Adolescent DBT group (Mondays).
