More Info About My Practice
I am excited to be offering services at a new location in Alpharetta. I focus on providing quality research-based therapy and counseling services. I enjoy working with couples and families, continuing to strengthen my clinical expertise in the most effective and proven methods of building stronger relationships and healing conflict- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (and Gottman Couples Therapy -level 2). With my background in DBT/mindfulness meditation and intensive training, I feel honored to offer a supportive, weekly women's mindfulness/stress management group. In addition, I am also trained in EMDR and AEDP to address issues related to painful life experiences, loss, and trauma.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Psychotherapy can give all of us an opportunity to gain greater understanding and clarity into emotional issues that we may be facing in our lives. In a supportive, engaging alliance, effective psychotherapy can help us to make positive change in our lives and move towards personal growth, productivity, healing, fulfilling relationships, and success.
My Role as a Therapist
I work with couples, individuals, and families experiencing conflict, relationship stress, and mental health issues. I strongly value ongoing training and education so that I may provide solid research-based strategies and solutions.
I have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and continue further consultation, training and expertise in working with couples and issues related to infidelity, infertility, addictions. EFT is a structured and effective approach to working with couples and their relationships developed by Dr. Sue Johnson (www.iceeft.com).
In addition to my work with couples, I also provide DBT-informed individual, family, and group (skills training) therapy. I have received comprehensive and intensive training from Dr. Michael Maslar ( Director of the Mindfulness and Behavior Therapies at The Family Institute at Northwestern University). I have also completed EMDR trauma training and remain interested in integrating EMDR strategies into my work.
I have completed MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction) and actively use mindfulness based strategies in all of my work. I am also currently training in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) to enhance my work in healing from loss, grief, trauma. Currently, I lead a weekly Women's Mindfulness/Stress Management group (practicing/learning dbt-informed skills including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness.
