My understanding of humanity is that we are all on a personal journey. What we have encountered in life, both positive and negative, affects how we behave and manage life. This will also inevitably impact our futures. Often, what we have encountered on our voyages have left long-lasting negative impressions on us and consequently these affect our choices. The wonderful thing about humans is our ability to change and adapt. Counseling is a great tool for those who wish to change their life's trajectory or simply to enhance their existence. We, as individuals, are not meant to live individually. We all, on some level, depend on, and desire, human connection. Counselors are a human connection that comes alongside on this journey. Therapeutic interaction aids individuals in becoming the persons they ultimately want to be.

More Info About My Practice

My private practice in Hillsboro, Oregon. My goal is to create an atmosphere that promotes a mutually respective relationship and a safe place to process all issues that life have given us.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I work with all types of individuals regardless of race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. My belief is that all humans are inherently valuable. That being said, I also have personal and professional backgrounds in working with teenagers. This population is underserved in our community and are also struggling with many issues that are new to previous generations. Additionally, I have experience is in helping narcissistic persons and their family members, either as couples or individuals. I also serve those who are attempting to survive, leave, or have left a narcissistic relationship. These persons are also underserved and may find it hard to find a therapist who understands their particular needs.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

My answer to that is...you are not alone. Many individuals and professionals view the therapist as the answer to the problems. Therefore, from this perspective professionals may believe that they have the answers you need, and that they are the expert. I personally believe that the actual answers to life's issues lies within ourselves and therefore, therapy is simply a tool that helps us explore our perspectives, beliefs, values, needs, and desires, among other things. So, the individual coming to therapy is the expert on their life and the counselor is there to help facilitate knowledge and understanding while providing unconditional positive regards and understanding.
