My desire is to look at the whole person -- emotionally, relationally, spiritually, nutritonally, and financially in order to get to the root cause of the issue. I wish I could say that my success as a therapist comes solely from my education, but that would not be true. I have battled myself with depression, an addiction, and relationship issues. While going through these struggles was very difficult, I am glad that I went through them because they have given me intense empathy and understanding for my clients. I can help people through their challenges because I have been through many of the same ones myself.

Along with being a licensed counselor, I am also an ordained minister, a Certified Nutritional Counselor, and a Consumer Credit Counselor. The extra life experience & education in these areas gives me a unique perspective and ability to deal with people from a truly holistic perspective.

My Role as a Therapist

As a therapist, I come along side of you and serve as a guide to your healing process. I see myself as a mentor and coach to help you reach the goals that you have set for yourself.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

When I ask people what their biggest regrets in life are, by far the most common answer is that they waited too long to get the help they needed. When you got your driver\'s license you had to read a book and take a test. When you played sports you had a coach to teach and help you. However, when it comes to the biggest areas of life (marriage, children, career, etc.) we often try to do it alone. You don\'t have to do it alone anymore! Give me a call to chat for a few minutes over the phone to see if I might be a good fit for you. Don\'t regret struggling for years when help is available now.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Yes. As much of my knowledge comes from life experience as it does from my formal education. Having a child with special needs, having to overcome an addiction, growing up in a dysfunctional family, and dealing with signifcant relational & financial pressures have given me a much greater ability to empathize with my cleints. My clients know that I am speaking from first hand recovery and not just textbook knowledge. Having gone through these struggles, God has given me greater compassion and understanding.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

At the end of the first session I provide my recommendation on how often we should meet along with an expected duration of the counseling relationship. The majority of people come once per week, however others only come once per month or even on an as-needed basis. Because my desire is to get to the root cause, the vast majority of people come to resolution of their issue within 2 months. The client has the ultimate decision regarding when therapy is complete, however, I provide my feedback to help give an outside perspective.
