Psychotherapy, as I understand and practice it, is mostly about exploring your unique inner world in a genuine relationship with an empathic and supportive fellow traveler. My guiding principles are: that one always remains the expert on one's own life, that people have the personal resources to overcome their "stuck-ness," and that a collaborative therapeutic relationship is the key to encouraging growth, positive change and more meaningful living. Knowing how to help someone get their living process un-stuck is a way in which therapist expertise can be particularly helpful.
I specialize in therapy with intellectually and artistically gifted clients.

More Info About My Practice

I charge on a sliding scale, contact me to discuss fees, and any other concerns. I offer a one hour free consultation to determine if we're a "good fit." As I am, to date, pre-licensed (legally, an intern) I do not bill insurance but can provide you with a "superbill" so you can seek reimbursement.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Developmental trauma is an area I feel especially adept at dealing with because my approach aims to create a supportive, safe environment for doing experiential work--often the key to overcoming the impact of trauma on one's life. I have a lot of experience dealing with addiction and compulsion, and many hours of specialized training dealing with a wide range issues within the LGBTQ population. I have certification in Batterers Intervention and have worked extensively with people who have been targets of domestic violence and abuse.

My Therapy Focus

The focus of my work as a therapist is on the "corrective emotional experience" provided by person-centered relational work. I also use a range of methods, including Gestalt chair work and Focusing to engender healing growth.
