Welcome! I'm so happy that you are seeking support for yourself. Finding a therapist that you work well with can feel overwhelming sometimes. I want to make the process a little easier for you by providing you with information about my practice. I believe that each person has the answers to their life and sometimes uncovering the answers is difficult to get to for one reason or another. I believe that my job as a therapist is to provide a space that allows you to feel heard, cared for and not judged so you can explore and uncover the answers. I believe strongly in the therapist/client relationship, our relationship. This means that I like to take the time to get to know you and build a relationship. I believe that the strength of our relationship is one of the keys to the success of therapy. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and that we work as a team. If this is your first time seeking therapy, I encourage you to find a few therapists that you feel are a good match for you. It is okay to interview therapists. By doing this, you are finding the best fit for you. I am happy to discuss how I can help you further so please call and let me answer any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you!

More Info About My Practice

I conduct social skills groups and grief and loss groups for children and adolescents. The social skills groups give children and adolescents more practice with peer interaction, self-expression, problem solving and communication. The grief and loss groups are for children and adolescents who have experienced a loss of a close family member, extended family member or friend in the last few years. The groups allow for children and adolescents to process their grief experiences, share with other children, know that they are not alone and that their feelings of grief are normal. I also conduct parenting groups. These groups are co-lead with parent coach, Sharon Egan. Sharon and I guide parents on a journey of self-exploration to uncover what is holding them back from making healthy parenting techniques stick and provide them the tools to create positive relationships with their children. Please call me for additional information about any of the above groups.

My Role as a Therapist

I believe that my role as a therapist is one of a partnership. I believe in working together, using a person's strengths in combination with my professional expertise. I believe that I am here to guide, help uncover unconscious beliefs, listen, provide empathy and healthy boundaries and give each person a place and opportunity to discover what is holding them back from living the life they desire.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

How can any opportunity to better yourself mean that you are weak or flawed? Therapy provides you an opportunity to explore, heal, discover, reflect, make changes, and grow into the best version of yourself. Getting support to help you do this speaks volumes, it says that you are aware of what you are capable of and aware of when you need support. Therapy can feel uncomfortable at times and the fact that a person decides to seek therapy says that they are ready to maybe feel uncomfortable sometimes and push through because the end result can be so gratifying. To me that is a strong person. To some extent, everyone is flawed, no one is perfect. Everyone has things that they can work on, explore and better. Seeking therapy says that you are aware, ready to learn more about yourself and live the life you desire. This is a strong person!
