Picking a therapist can be a frustrating process. With seemingly endless profiles to sort through it can feel overwhelming. It is also an important choice, as your comfort level with your therapist is one of the most important aspects of the counseling process.

So what makes me unique as a therapist? First off, I believe that there is no hard and fast approach that works for everyone. I try and meet you where you are and adapt my approach to your unique situation.

A lot of what we'd do together is look at thoughts. Thoughts play a big role in what we do, how we feel, and who we are. By paying attention to the quick little thoughts that flash through our minds--thoughts that we often aren't even fully conscious of--we can begin to see how they create and maintain the more painful aspects of our experiences. Once we are aware of exactly what our minds are doing, we can start working on changing the patterns that keep us feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, or stressed.

If you are feeling stuck in your life, or realizing that your negative internal states are getting in your way, counseling can help. With the right tools, you can take your life back, feel better, and live more fully. If any of this sounds applicable to you, and you feel that we might work well together, visit my website or give me a call. I would be happy to talk with you about your situation.

More Info About My Practice

My practice is called the Counseling Room. It is conveniently located in Broomfield, just off Highway 36. I work with both men and women and, although I specialize in anxiety and stress, I work with a wide variety of issues. My office is wheelchair accessible (make sure to park in the front lot as there are stairs in the back lot) and has plenty of parking.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Although I work with a wide variety of issues, I specialize in working with anxiety and stress. Anxiety often does not receive the attention it deserves. Although it is a common human experience, it can be extremely uncomfortable and even debilitating at its extreme. If you experience a high level of anxiety, I am sure you can attest to this. Fortunately, counseling is an effective, evidence based, treatment for anxiety.

When working with anxiety, I use a cognitive behavioral approach supplemented with mindfulness techniques. With mindfulness we can become aware of the subtle aspects of our minds that reinforce anxiety, and with cognitive behavioral therapy we can work on changing and addressing these aspects. So, if you find yourself anxious more days than not, or find that your anxiety is hampering you, it may be time to try counseling.
