Picking a therapist can be a frustrating process. With seemingly endless profiles to sort through it can feel overwhelming. It is also an important choice, as your comfort level with your therapist is one of the most important aspects of the counseling process.

So what makes me unique as a therapist? First off, I believe that there is no hard and fast approach that works for everyone. I try and meet you where you are and adapt my approach to your unique situation.

A lot of what we'd do together is look at thoughts. Thoughts play a big role in what we do, how we feel, and who we are. States such as anxiety, stress, and depression can be alleviated or elevated by how we think about them. By paying attention to what is going on in our minds, we can begin to change how we react to ourselves and our worlds. We can learn the tools to work with our tough inner states and start feeling better. So if you are feeling stuck in your life, or realizing that your negative internal states are getting in your way, counseling can help. It goes beyond just symptom relief: counseling can help us feel more energized, engaged, and fulfilled.

If this sounds applicable to you, and you feel that we might work well together, visit my website or give me a call. I would be happy to talk more with you.

More Info About My Practice

My practice is called the Counseling Room. I have offices in both Broomfield and Boulder. I work with men and women and, although I specialize in anxiety and stress, I work with a wide variety of issues. My Broomfield office is wheelchair accessible (make sure to park in the front lot as there are stairs in the back lot) and both locations have plenty of parking.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Although I work with a wide variety of issues, I specialize in working with anxiety and stress. Anxiety often does not receive the attention it deserves. Although it is a common human experience, it can be extremely uncomfortable and even debilitating at its extreme. If you experience a high level of anxiety, I am sure you can attest to this. Fortunately, counseling is an effective, evidence based, treatment for anxiety.

When working with anxiety, I use a cognitive behavioral approach supplemented with mindfulness techniques. With mindfulness we can become aware of the subtle aspects of our minds that reinforce anxiety, and with cognitive behavioral therapy we can work on changing and addressing these aspects. So, if you find yourself anxious more days than not, or find that your anxiety is hampering you, it may be time to try counseling.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

As I mentioned above, counseling can have wide ranging benefits. It can provide symptom alleviation for:

It can also help with:

-Relationship stress

And it can help us feel:

-Increased sense of meaning

This is just a short list of what counseling can help with. In general, it gives us tools that we can use to manage our various difficult states and experiences.
