My passion is in working with teens with low-self-esteem and adult working women struggling with perfectionism and co-dependent relationships with family and friends.

Adolescent and teen years can be filled with confusion, self-doubt, internal conflicts, and self-exploration. If you, or a teen you know, is struggling with the pressures of life, feeling like you don't fit in, battling yourself to make it through the day, or feeling generally disconnected and alone in this world and in the face of your problems, please know there is help available.

If you are a working woman finding yourself constantly attempting to meet life demands by going above and beyond the task assigned with little-to-no recognition for your efforts, becoming more anxious, stressed, and overwhelmed each day, and feeling a general sense of burn out, resentment, and dissatisfaction - give me a call. We can work towards identifying core beliefs, understanding motivations for your behavior, teach you new ways to build your self-esteem without reliance on recognition from others, and establish boundaries in relationships allowing you permission to say no to unhealthy requests.

I use a combination of approaches to meet the various needs of my clients, including art therapy, worksheets on thought patterns, journaling, talk therapy, and take-home assignments. This allows for each client to receive appropriate care tailored to their needs.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Therapy is an opportunity for an unbiased third party to sit with you in a safe place to work out the larger issues that you're struggling with, talk about the secrets you feel obligated to keep, and shed light on new perspectives without judgment. This is your opportunity to talk openly and begin to feel empowered, learn to trust yourself, and improve you're overall well-being.

I will not offer advice or provide you with the answers, but I will guide you to finding your own answers that have been there all along. My goal is to help you become fully confident in your decisions by learning to self-reflect, increase self-awareness, and problem-solve based on the modeling I provide. I want to give you clarity, confidence, and independence.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I have had many clients discuss previous bad experiences in therapy and I find it so disheartening that they have to experience that in an arena that should feel more welcoming and comfortable, rather than disruptive. I love to explore these experiences to learn about the client's preferences - no two clients prefer the same method. I also like to provide some education to clients on finding their "right fit" in therapy, because I won't always be perfect for them either (although I sure hope to be of help!). Not every therapist is going to be what you need so it is important to do your research on their style and allow yourself some time to get to know them for a few sessions before determining if it is indeed a bad fit - relationships take time to build because trust is not gained over night and therapy is no different. Lastly, I think it's important to discuss frustrations, dissatisfaction, and any other feelings that come into the therapy room, as all of it pertains to the process. I always tell my clients to talk with me about anything they don't like so we can work together on improving things, rather than having them leave dissatisfied and never return.
